Like many teenagers, I developed an obsession with a musical idol. The one and only Prince. It wasn’t until after his death on April 21, 2016 that I came to understand how profoundly important he was in my childhood and continues to be. We turn to attachment figures for comfort in times of distress, emotional or otherwise. How powerful it is to have access to the comfort of a musical idol just by pressing “play”. I taped a podcast with two Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) supervisors in December on this topic.
